The Riverside Park Conservancy has announced in an email that the reconstruction of the 83rd Street staircase has been completed, and it is now open.
The project — funded entirely by the Conservancy thanks to a private gift — involved “pouring a new concrete base for each step and landing, repointing the stone walls, installing new bluestone pavers, and capping it off with a new handrail.”

Good job but the bannister has got to go! That wasn’t the original design and shouldn’t have been there. It’s cheap looking too.
