Several individuals and organizations have indicated a potential pro-Trump “freedom rally” – as well as a counter-protest – may take place at Columbus Circle on Sunday morning.
On January 2nd, this person shared a Facebook message saying “MAGA supporters and Proud Boys are planning demonstrations in D.C. on January 6th, Columbus Circle in Manhattan January 10th, and again in D.C. January 17th through the 20th.”
On January 4th, this Trump supporter indicated she’d be attending the Columbus Circle rally on Sunday, January 10th.
And on January 8th, a group called UARFNCY (United Against Racism & Fascism-NYC) sent out the following tweet, acknowledging its awareness of the potential rally and planning a counter-protest in response.
We are ready to take to the streets Sunday morning, and we need you there with us! There are reports the MAGA March has been cancelled due to our plans to mobilize. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: community solidarity works to counter far-right mobilizations. [1/7] pic.twitter.com/BHN8E3L6cQ

We’ve reached out to the NYPD’s press office and they’ve confirmed they’re aware of the potential events.
