The Upper West Side’s second legal cannabis store has officially lit up.
Just a Little Higher opened late last month at 157 West 72nd Street (near Amsterdam Ave.) in the space that formerly housed Goodwill.

While this is only the second legal dispensary in the neighborhood – Flower Power also opened last month at 22 West 66th Street – it’s apparently the 58th store where you can buy weed on the Upper West Side, according to Council Member Gale Brewer’s list of unauthorized retailers.
Just a Little Higher is part of the state’s CAURD (Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary) program, which offers people who were convicted under prior cannabis laws a chance to open New York State’s first dispensaries.
The new smoke shop is part of a collective of CAURD licensed businesses owned by Paul Kagan and Gregory Kornegay, according to Honeysuckle Magazine. The W. 72nd St. store is operated by Todd Halloway and Tymel Kornegay, Gregory’s son. The duo have worked together since 2009, mostly in the music and event booking business, having founded a company called The Little Booking Agency that has managed acts on behalf of popular artists like Lil Wayne, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and more.
“Just a Little Higher strives to bring a sophisticated and relaxing experience to its new location on the Upper West Side,” Halloway told Patch.
Pagan told Honeysuckle Magazine that education will be an important facet of the new UWS shop, which is the group’s first storefront in Manhattan.

“I want to make sure that we let people know what will help them and how different strains will help with [specific effects],” said Pagan in an interview. “We’ll focus on ensuring that everyone knows what they’re consuming, how they’re consuming it, and what’s going to help them get through the day.”
Offerings at the UWS store can be found on the brand’s website and include flower, pre-rolls, edibles, topicals and more. Store hours are Sunday–Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
I don’t know how this is a good thing other than more tax dollars.
Then don’t smoke weed, simple as that. Live and let live.
It’s making safe an entire former underground market in marijuana. Now your neighbors can buy it safely and legally instead of however they did before.
Yes! I have smoked MJ a few times and only found that it made me nervous, paranoid, and unable to sleep. But that’s ME, let others partake and get rid of one more street crime.
Remember Prohibition? Before my time, but many enjoy a drink now and then, and it turned them into criminals. It also spawned the birth of organized crime!!!
Wisdom, we’ve learned, may mean 2+2=4, but also teaches that the “right” decision is not always right.
Agreed. More tax dollars to spend on illegal immigrants and criminals.
So 66th and now 72nd. At this rate I’ll have a legal shop a half mile from my house by 2026.
Guessing you mean half a block? There are plenty within a half a mile.
Newsmaxx! Is that you?
Wow, was that a swing and a miss. Try and keep up, @livesinuws.
Just came here to read the inevitable stream of horrified comments bemoaning the downfall of society through the evil invasion of REEFER!!!
Yep, same. And not disappointed! Some people just don’t have ‘Good Humor’…. Sigh.
