The Upper West Side’s second legal cannabis store has officially lit up.

Just a Little Higher opened late last month at 157 West 72nd Street (near Amsterdam Ave.) in the space that formerly housed Goodwill.

While this is only the second legal dispensary in the neighborhood – Flower Power also opened last month at 22 West 66th Street – it’s apparently the 58th store where you can buy weed on the Upper West Side, according to Council Member Gale Brewer’s list of unauthorized retailers.

Just a Little Higher is part of the state’s CAURD (Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary) program, which offers people who were convicted under prior cannabis laws a chance to open New York State’s first dispensaries.

The new smoke shop is part of a collective of CAURD licensed businesses owned by Paul Kagan and Gregory Kornegay, according to Honeysuckle Magazine. The W. 72nd St. store is operated by Todd Halloway and Tymel Kornegay, Gregory’s son. The duo have worked together since 2009, mostly in the music and event booking business, having founded a company called The Little Booking Agency that has managed acts on behalf of popular artists like Lil Wayne, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and more.

“Just a Little Higher strives to bring a sophisticated and relaxing experience to its new location on the Upper West Side,” Halloway told Patch.

Pagan told Honeysuckle Magazine that education will be an important facet of the new UWS shop, which is the group’s first storefront in Manhattan.

“I want to make sure that we let people know what will help them and how different strains will help with [specific effects],” said Pagan in an interview. “We’ll focus on ensuring that everyone knows what they’re consuming, how they’re consuming it, and what’s going to help them get through the day.”

Offerings at the UWS store can be found on the brand’s website and include flower, pre-rolls, edibles, topicals and more. Store hours are Sunday–Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
