Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Tavern on the Green

As we mentioned recently, the Solar Eclipse is taking place on Monday, April 8, and at 3:25 p.m., anyone who chooses to remain in NYC will see the moon cover 90% of the sun.

A number of events are taking place, including this one at the American Museum of Natural History as well as Tavern on the Green’s inaugural “Solar Eclipse Viewing Party.”

Tavern on the Green’s event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Central Park restaurant’s courtyard, with themed menu items like “Milky Way Mac and Cheese, Satellite Meatball Sliders, Chocolate Moon Pies and an Eclipse Black and White Cookie” available for purchase.

They will also be offering protective glasses, which are important, and an astronomer from Columbia University will give a 30-minute presentation about eclipses and why they happen.

A restaurant representative tells us the event is free and open to the public; just show up. It’s located through the West 67th Street entrance to Central Park.
