Spring Concerts at The Overlook in Riverside Park

Spring has officially sprung in NYC; the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the parks are coming alive again. This May, we can look forward to the Spring Overlook Concert Series in Riverside Park.

At the 116th Street Overlook, the Spring 2022 Overlook Concert series will kick off on May 1. This free event is brought to us by the Riverside Park Conservancy and is featuring talent from the Columbia Bluegrass Band, French Cookin’ Blues, and the Manhattan School of Music Brass Quintet.

The Columbia Blue Grass Band, led by James Kerr, will be performing on May 1, opening the series. Their music uses traditional instruments and vocal harmonies to create a sound that is uniquely American.

On May 8, the band French Cookin’ Blues, led by David “Doc” French, is performing. These performers from the Blues Hall of Fame play music with authentic sounds from all over the country. Closing out the month’s series on May 15, the Manhattan School of Music Brass Quintet, led by Samuel George, will play traditional and contemporary brass numbers. The concerts take place Sunday afternoons from 2-3:30pm.

The Overlook Concert series is part of Summer on the Hudson, the annual arts and culture festival that takes place throughout Riverside Park. The programming includes a wide range of events, including the popular Movies Under The Stars series, concerts, dance performances, shows for children, DJ dance parties, wellness activities and more.

These events are located in various parts of the park between 59th and 153rd streets, and are free to the public. You can see the entire schedule events here.
