Summer on the Hudson begins in May and ends in September. The free outdoor arts and cultural festival has tons of events planned for people of all ages. Read on to find out the time and date for the best concerts, dance parties, children’s shows, movie screenings, and much more!
Locomotive Lawn Live
Scheduled: Every Thursday between May 10 and June 28, 10.30am – 11.15am
Riverside Park South
Locomotive Live Lawn is an awesome event for kids that are up to five years old. The concert will be led by Moosiki Kids Musical Storytime. The children’s performance group is all about bringing musical stories to life through the power of creative songwriting. They’ll perform each song with tons of enthusiasm while also making the little ones sing along. The event takes place by the big locomotive lawn. The outdoor venue is spacious and perfect for kids and also their parents. Remember to also make sure to bring some sunscreen and sunglasses to keep them safe from the sun’s rays!
Yoga Flow
Scheduled: Every Thursday from May to October, 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Are you in need of some down time? If so, come out to “Yoga Flow” and let your mind enter into a state of total trance. Yoga is an exercise that gives your body a full workout while also uplifting your mind. It also incorporates some aspects of meditation. The session will be led by yogi veteran Nina Semczuk. She’ll teach you how to find your strength while also boosting your flexibility and inner balance. Make sure to bring your own mat and a positive state of mind in order to make the most out of the experience.
Make Some Noise: A Celebration of Women and Music
Scheduled: May 12, 5pm – 8.30pm
Crabapple Grove North (91st Street)
“Make Some Noise” is a concert co-presented by Barnard College in Morningside Heights. The outdoor concert will focus on performances that also celebrate the influence of women in music. The best and most talented singers from the city’s colleges and universities will all head to Riverside Park for the special occasion.
Sweet Spot Festival
May 19th from 3-9pm
West Harlem Pier
Presented by Summer on the Hudson and Kindred Arts, this music festival will be a blast for everyone. Genres include Reggae, Soulful House, Disco, and Afro-Beat spun by some of the most-renowned DJs in the country.
Mamapalooza
May 27th from 12-5pm

The celebration of motherhood is the theme for this popular annual festival, featuring music, wellness activities, arts and more.

It’s a dance party with headphones! Two live DJs will spin music of different genres, which you can switch between. Headphones are provided on a first come, first serve basis. It will probably look pretty weird to anyone who doesn’t know what’s going on.
Amplified Sundays
Scheduled: Every Sunday in July
Pier I at 70th Street
Get ready to dance to different styles of music each weekend of the summer at Amplified Sundays! On July 1st, The Brothers Footman will be playing their unique mix of soul, hip-hop, r&b, rock, and country. The following Sunday, Kaleta & Super Yamba Band will be performing. Their sound expertly combines 70s psychedelic sounds with 80s Afrobeats. The third Sunday of July will be Galipote’s turn to perform. The Caribbean rock band has a bunch of high energy songs that will get everyone up and dancing. Min Xiao Fen’s Blue Pipa Trio and also Balkan pop duo Eva Salina and Peter Stan are the last two acts scheduled to perform.
Coco (2017) Screening
Scheduled: August 1, 8.30pm
Pier I at 70th Street
“Coco”, the 2017 Pixar animation hit, will be screened this summer as part of the Pier I Picture Show series. The movie will begin just as the sun starts to set behind the Hudson River. The story centers around the life of Miguel. He’s a Mexican boy who wants nothing more than to become a musician when he grows up. However, his family has banned music for generations. When Miguel stumbles upon the Land of the Dead, he’ll the discover his own talent and the truth behind his family’s history. Feel free to pack a picnic and also bring a friend with you to enjoy this free outdoor screening. As part of the Pier I Picture Show series, a movie will also be shown every Wednesday in the months of July and August. Some of the other titles scheduled include “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, “Up”, and “Toy Story 3.”
Summer on the Hudson 2018 events span from the Upper West Side to Hamilton Heights, specifically 59th to 153rd Streets. The outdoor setting also provides panoramic views of the Hudson River and the neighboring state of New Jersey. The program is a joint effort that’s organized by NYC Parks and Riverside Park Conservancy.
