New Taste of the Upper West Side

The same team behind Jacob’s Pickles has done it again with Maison Pickle. This recently opened restaurant features classic American comfort food in an upscale atmosphere. The menu is extensive and centers around their signature French Dip sandwich. There are five dip varieties available and they all offer a wildly different taste. There’s the classic, which comes prepared with a homemade horseradish aioili, the deluxe, which is cooked in a gruyere cheese fondue and fried onions, and the royale for those with a love for foie gras.

The other two varieties use lamb and pork instead of beef to create a unique flavor. The lamb French Dip is prepared with mint chimichurri while the pork one is mixed with a sweet apple compote. All of their french dips come on a house baked French roll with pan-scraped au jus and house pickled peppers. Maison Pickle’s open floor plan makes it easy for customers to view how their dishes are getting prepared. Enjoy the festive ambiance at this new neighborhood gem and get a sneak preview of what they do best at Taste UWS!

10th annual new taste of the upper west side

Where? Grand Tent, O’Shea Complex Schoolyard, Columbus Avenue (between West 76th St. and 77th St. )

The second night of the one-of-a-kind culinary event pays tribute to the Upper West Side and its world-renowned chefs. A sophisticated and refined urban ambiance will become the main theme for the night. The festival will be turning one decade old this year and many of the neighborhood’s most celebrated chefs will be in attendance. Masterchef’s such as April Bloomfield, Ken Friedman, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Daniel Boulud, and John Frasher will all be honored for their tremendous accomplishments during “Best of the West”.

The presentation by Park West Village will be hosted with the help of Jesse Palmer, a renown analyst and a host at Disney’s ESPN and ABC Networks. Palmer has also made several appearances on College Football and Good Morning America.

High-profile restaurants such as Jean Georges, Boulud Sud, Dovetail, Rosa Mexicano, The Leopard at Des Artistes (one of my favorite restaurants near Lincoln Center), Carmine’s and Jacques Torres Chocolates will be offering samples of their best signature dishes.

Taste of the Upper West Side is presented by Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District. Proceeds from the event go towards helping improve the neighborhood’s infrastructure. Over half a million dollars have been raised in the last nine years. The funds have contributed to the continuation of wonderful programs such as Wellness in the Schools and Citymeals-on-Wheels. The installation of 19 eco-friendly containers in Theodore Park that operate with solar energy has also been made possible thanks to this foundation’s charitable donations.

Tickets are now on sale!  Reserve your spot here.
