A building under construction in Morningside Heights, The Vandewater, has topped out at 33 stories this week, Patch.com has announced. The building is 385 feet tall. The upcoming Morningside Heights condo development is located at 543 West 122nd Street. When complete, the building will have 183 apartments.
Units will range from one to four bedrooms and the building will be represented by Halstead Property Development Marketing.
The project has had its fair share of controversy. According to an article published in the Real Deal, city council member Mark Levine had filed a petition to limit the scale of the building and to include affordable housing in the building. Developer Savanna purchased the land from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2016 for $96 million.
There will be 24,000 square feet of amenities including a gym, private gardens, outdoor dining, and a landscaped motor court, according to Curbed.
