At around 4am on Sunday, a video of a racist rant on Columbia University campus was captured. Julian von Abele, a sophomore, was caught drunkenly spewing racially charged comments towards a group of mostly black students outside of Butler Library.
Some of his comments included:
- “We (Europeans) invented the modern world”
- “White people are the best thing that ever happened to the world”
- “I love white men”
This video went viral after it was originally shared on Twitter, now having been retweeted almost 9,000 times.
On Wednesday morning, Barnard banned Stupid from their campus, the Columbia Spectator reported.
Columbia is still apparently “investigating the incident” at this time. I’m not sure what that actually means, but here is a statement they’ve issued in response to Sunday morning’s tirade.
