UWS Nuggets: Breakfast Popup, Grand Bazaar, Poetry Reading

Here are some bite-sized bits of news for Upper West Siders.

Our first nugget doesn’t have nuggets, but it does have breakfast tacos. A new popup shop — Morning Goods NYC — has opened at 424 Amsterdam Ave, between 80th and 81st streets. This is Caledonia Bar’s space, and the new popup (created by the folks behind Uptaco NYC) is currently operating on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon and on weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The grab-and-go spot serves “fresh handmade breakfast tacos, overnight oats, freshly batched cold brew in various strengths, sizes and flavors, including an espresso style cold brew shot,” a representative from Morning Goods tells us. “We will be partnering with select other local food and beverage brands to offer their goods as well.”

Grand Bazaar NYC has announced that on Sunday, September 25, its indoor market will be open for the first time in two-and-a-half years. Located at 100 West 77th Street, Grand Bazaar is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a mix of local artists, designers, craft-makers, vintage and antique dealers, and food vendors.

A group of poets — the “Thursday Morning Poets” — will plant their original poems and stage a public reading of their “Poetry in the Garden” at the 91st Street Garden in Riverside Park on Saturday, September 24 at 1 p.m. They’ll be doing this “in support of global peace and sustainability, as they join in-concert with thousands of other poets worldwide, participating in the 11th annual global demonstration led by 100 Thousand Poets for Change.

The West 111th Street Block Association is hosting its third annual Taste w111th this Friday, September 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This “culinary tour of Morningside Heights” offers “tasting passports” which allow you to sample foods at participating nearby restaurants.
