Governor Cuomo has announced that beginning March 30 at 8am, New Yorkers 30 and older will be eligible for the vaccine – and that universal eligibility will go into effect on April 6, and those 16 and up will become eligible.
#BREAKING: Starting Tuesday, April 6 at 8am, all New Yorkers age 16+ will be eligible to schedule and receive the COVID-19 vaccines.
And beginning tomorrow at 8am, all New Yorkers age 30+ will be eligible to schedule and receive the vaccines.

Additionally, the Governor announced that more than 2 million total COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered at New York State-run and FEMA-assisted mass vaccination sites. Statewide, more than 9 million total doses have been administered across all vaccination sites. As of now, 30% of New Yorkers have received at least one vaccination dose.

“Today we take a monumental step forward in the fight to beat COVID. Beginning March 30, all New Yorkers age 30 or older will be able to be vaccinated, and all New Yorkers age 16 or older will be eligible on April 6, well ahead of the May 1 deadline set by the White House,”Governor Cuomo said. “As we continue to expand eligibility, New York will double down on making the vaccine accessible for every community to ensure equity, particularly for communities of color who are too often left behind. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but until we get there it is more important than ever for each and every New Yorker to wear a mask, socially distance and follow all safety guidelines.”
In addition, the ‘Am I Eligible’ screening tool has been updated for individuals with comorbidities and underlying conditions with new appointments released on a rolling basis over the next weeks.
So is the idea here that within the next 10 minutes all New Yorkers age 50+ will be vaccinated or get appointments to do so, and that between March 30 and April 6 all New Yorkers ages 30–50 will be vaccinated or get their appointments … or is the idea to instigate (more) chaos, like turning all the lights green at a busy intersection at once (and perhaps as a bonus distracting us from Cuomo’s woes)? It seems a rather ambitious pace.
All I know is that I’m 62 and still waiting, after over a week, for notification from my provider of choice that I am ELIGIBLE to make an appointment.
I’ve read that the inoculation process is accelerating; perhaps it sped right past me.
