ILTUWS learned that a 24-year-old woman barricaded herself in her apartment when police arrived for a wellness check around 6:40 a.m this morning.
Unable to gain entry, officers called in the Emergency Unit, which successfully entered the apartment. Once inside, law enforcement deployed a taser on the woman, who was found to have a BB gun in her possession, according to an NYPD official. She was later taken by EMS to Bellevue Hospital for further evaluation.

One of our readers shared a firsthand account: “Something is happening outside 206 West 84th Street—emergency police trucks are going both directions on a one-way street, and the street is blocked off. An FDNY vehicle and a Northwell ambulance are also on-site. I’ve lived here my entire life, and I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Though the Citizen app listed multiple addresses for the incident, police later confirmed that it occurred at 208 West 84th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue).

No injuries were reported, and the incident was resolved without further escalation. As of now, the suspect’s name has not been made available in the police system, according to the NYPD.
