Zen Taco

Zen Taco

Does the thought of popsicle cocktails awaken both your inner-child and inner-adult? Well good news has arrived! Zen Taco has recently opened on the Upper West Side. Located at 522 Columbus Avenue, between 85th and 86th Streets (previously occupied by Firehouse Tavern). Zen Taco blends Latin and Asian cuisines. And offers some rather unique alcoholic treats!

Whether you’re looking for something sweet to put in your belly, something to drink or a full blown meal, Zen Taco seems to check all the boxes.

Let’s snoop through the menu a bit (yes, you’ll need to wait for the popsicle cocktails…).

Poke Bowls: with tuna, shrimp or tofu. The “Miss Piggy” sounds interesting. It’s made with pork, zesty orange, asian slaw, ponzu and sesame seeds. Ponzu is a tart, citrus based Japanese sauce.

Tacos / Bowls: They have a few dishes which can come in the form of a taco or a bowl. Try the “Pescado”: Lobster battered white fish, chipotle slaw, pico de gallo, tomatillo sauce and poblano tartar sauce.

And you can build your own taco or bowl.

Now … the alcohol section (we’re almost there).

Lots of hard stuff, cocktails, beers and wines.

Some of the beers on their menu include brews from Goose Island, Peak Organic and  Greenport Harbor.

Cocktails include frozen margaritas, highballs, whiskey sours and rum drinks.

Wines include sparkling, red, white and rose.

And … POPSICLE COCKTAILS!! These exotic treats come in flavors including mojito, peach sangria and more. I’m especially curious about the Hot Nutella with vanilla vodka, banana liquor & banana nutella.

Here are the popsicle cocktails at Zen Taco:

They also have dessert popsicles which include peanut butter banana, chocolate mint and apple caramel pops.
