Police are looking for a suspect who committed an assault on the Upper West Side this week, and the department is hoping the public can help.
The incident took place on Thursday, April 6 at about 11:10 a.m. A 65-year-old man was “operating his scooter in front of 214 Amsterdam Avenue” (the address of DuPont Cleaners, just off the southwest corner of West 70th Street) when an “unidentified individual struck him in the arm with an unknown object causing a small laceration.”
The suspect fled southbound on Amsterdam Avenue, and the victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Surveillance cameras captured the suspect at the incident location.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter. All calls are strictly confidential.
um, there may be another explanation for the “assault”, though the person fleeing does suggest assault.
clarification is needed.
Perhaps the rider was one of those who ‘terrify’ so many UWS pedestrians by riding on the sidewalk. Perhaps the scooter was ‘motorized’.
