A guy was recently eating at Amsterdam Ale House. An anonymous tipster tells us his dog bit someone who was walking by. And apparently, he just continued to eat. Didn’t say sorry … didn’t get up … didn’t appear concerned.
THEN, his dog peed near a bunch of outdoor diners.
We blurred out his face because we don’t want to get bitten.
Or peed on.
Ale House is an awesome place. The food is great and it’s one of the best spots for beer. It’s also a staple and one of the oldest bars on the UWS. So please sir. No more of this!
Visit Amsterdam Ale House at 340 Amsterdam Avenue (corner of 76th Street). Hopefully this was an isolated incident. But if you see something similar happening here or anywhere nearby, please let us know …
you are too kind. this guy deserves to get public shamed for this bs.
I’ll be on the lookout for no-socks-loafer-wearing-doochers on the UWS…
I like dogs…but agressive ones are used as weapons by owners..this owner should be in jail for assault..what your dog does.. you’ve done..period !
I’ll be on the lookout for no-socks-loafer-wearing-doochers on the UWS…
Loafer Man-Please bring your dog to pee next to or on the uber entitled Hamptons-in-the-city crowd of covidiots blocking the sidewalk for their $100 liquid brunch at Luxembourg on W70th St. Waitstaff scurrying around like house slaves of the rich, you can almost here “yes, Master” if you listen creatively. Anyone who lives next door literally has to push people out of the way to get to the corner.
It’s OK to criticize the observed behavior, which is awful, but there is form of intolerance here that extends beyond behavior, and that’s a slippery slope.
I also wish we could get to place where public internet shaming for anything would just curl up and die. One part of a story becomes received truth all too often.
Hard to have a one part of the story when it comes to peeing in proximity to diners.
A little digitalis mixed with Tylenol solves this problem…
If this was an isolated incident I’d express outrage. Unfortunately it is not. I have seen dogs relieve themselves many times in front of outdoor tables (yes, waste and urine). I’ve also seen people sitting at the tables with their dogs beside them feeding them from the table. People take their dogs into restaurants and shops, as if they were their child some even place them in the grocery carts. Its unclear to me why the health department allows this.
If true, the biting is not good. But dogs peeing near diners is just a fact of life people will have to deal with if they choose to dine on the sidewalk or in the streets. You’re already sitting in an area where there’s probably multiple types of human bodily fluids and rat droppings. And we the dog owners have to navigate sidewalks where unmasked diners are spewing their viral load.
Yes exactly. You’re eating outside. Dogs pee and poo out on the sidewalk. Why is this an outrage? It’s definitely wrong that the dog bit someone, but to complain about a dog peeing next to people eating outdoors is absolutely ridiculous. You’re outdoors – people are allowed to feed their dogs outside on the sidewalk, it’s public property particularly given the outrageous taxes we pay.
“Dogs pee and poo out on the sidewalk. ”
What part of CURB YOUR DOG do you not understand?
How do your “outrageous taxes” entitle you to use the public (shared by people) sidewalk as your pet toilet?
It’s a public health measure.
If you’re capable of negotiating high priced hedge fund-y deals, you can train your puppy to take his business to the curb. Or hire a professional to manage this for you.
Seriously – I hope someone let’s their dog take a pee right next to you when you’re eating outside. Maybe we let our toddler drop his diaper – is that ok?
‘we dog owners’ shouldn’t have to be mindful of people eating and should let our dogs piss right next to you. Typical entitled dog owner who things their DoGgo should be able to use streets and sidewalks as their personal toilets. Get some manners lady.
Dog owners should be responsible! Don’t do toilet business near eating business.
The owners face should be shown. He needs to be publicly named/showed and shamed.
This incident should have been reported – and still can be. The dog may need to be quarantined and (depending on its history and the extent if the bite injury) may need to be designated a dangerous dog.
Aggressive dogs can do serious damage and are a public health menace, which is the last thing we need right now!
It’s outside.Dogs per and poopy outside. There is alot more gross stuff on the sidewalk than this dog’s pee..
Not much of anything grosser than a dog lifting its leg to pee right next to you while you are eating. I’m guessing your another lazy dog owner.
If the editor really “loves the UWS”, he should unmask the perpetrator. Total cowardice.
I am sick and tired of dogs everywhere. So gross.
