This is a (lightly edited) guest post by Cynthia Carris Alonso.
Chaz became an Upper West Side hero when he saved a woman’s cat this week.
The cat had climbed through the window and onto the ledge outside his owner’s second floor apartment at 2350 Broadway, between 85th and 86th streets.
So the man climbed up to rescue him and hand him back to his owner, while a crowd of spectators clapped and cheered for his heroic act.
About twenty passersby stopped, gasped and cheered when the cat was returned to his owner.
“I asked the UWS hero, Chaz, if I could write about the story and submit photos of him to ILTUWS and he said yes, and we will all be looking out for the post,” Cynthia told us.
Chaz, if you’re reading this, thanks for stepping up and saving the day!
Kudos to Chaz, the Good Sameowritan!!
lol – good effort!
Finally, a piece of good news! Wonderfully kind of you, Chaz, to do this good deed. You are a true UWS hero.
Chaz, I am so happy to have neighbors like you!

PSA: Please put screens in your windows everyone. With warmer weather, cats are showing up at the city shelter with High-Rise Syndrome which is a series of injuries that occur when a cat falls out a window. Yes, cats are good balancers, but they also fall. Keep your kitties safely indoors.
And thanks, Chad, for saving that cute nugget! #CatHero
