UPDATE (10/18/2022): 24-year-old Jordan Smith has been arrested for this incident and charged with robbery.
The NYPD is hoping the public can help them locate an individual wanted for an attempted weekend theft.
It took place at the soon-to-close Best Buy at 1880 Broadway on Saturday, October 15 at about 3:55 p.m.
The suspect removed a laptop and attempted to pass all points of sale and exit the store, police said.
A 30-year-old male employee confronted the suspect and was able to successfully recover the laptop, but the suspect (pictured below) then discharged pepper spray into his face before fleeing on foot.
The employee refused medical attention.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter. All calls are strictly confidential.
Looks like a recent immigrant living the American dream
You sound like one of those proud racists we keep reading about. I get the feeling you really wished you could use another word to describe this man other than immigrant.
Stealing from that Best Buy is almost like a victimless crime.
Either the store or customers has to absorb the costs of robberies. Prices will have to go up. We are all victims. And in this case, the use of pepper spray by the robber makes it armed robbery.
he’ll be out in an hour. Keep voting Democrat!
You appear not to understand the Constitutions of the United States or of New York State. You appear not to understand the nature of these events we call “trials.” Though I certainly believe you when you insinuate that Republican leadership would not respect those Constitutions either.
After all, in 2017, Trump appeared on Long Island with Lee Zeldin, currently the Republican running to be NY Governor. Addressing police, Trump instructed them to disregard detainees’ constitutional rights by deliberately crashing their heads into police car door frames. Some of the police laughed. Zeldin — though an attorney — said nothing to rebuke Trump for instructing police to violate detainees’ constitutional rights.
Jordan look like he thought he was supposed to be in the Ann Taylor and sauntered into Best Buy by accident
I recommend mandatory castration. It’s what we would do to aggressive dogs, why not armed robbers?
