The police are on the hunt for two individuals who committed an assault against at 33-year-old man earlier this month on the Upper West Side.
The incident took place on Sunday, October 2 at about 6:45 p.m. in front of the McDonald’s at 2049 Broadway at the corner of West 71st Street.
After striking the victim in the head with an umbrella, the suspects “slashed his forearm with an unknown cutting instrument,” NYPD sources tell ILTUWS.
The duo then fled on foot in an unknown direction, while EMS brought the victim to an area hospital in stable condition.
Police have released the following surveillance photos of the suspects.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website or by sending a direct message to @NYPDTips on Twitter. All calls are strictly confidential. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for tips which lead to an arrest.
Either put a cop on that block 24/7 or shutter the McDonald’s. How difficult is it?
AGREED..Cops or shutter the place..What is going on?..Time for us to insist/DEMAND POLICE PROTECTION..for the UWS…
You fool! I assure you, you are almost every single resident of the upper West side are the problem. You continue to vote for idiots like the Blasio, Cuomo, and whatever this current POS governor and mayor are named…
The police keep arresting these people, almost exclusively people of color I might add, over and over again. Then you idiots keep voting for the same politicians who insist on no bail and no punishment.
I was recently attacked inside the Oculus by a black man who has been arrested 18 times for assault this year alone. He was out before I was released from medical care. He pled guilty and was sentenced to “time served”. The time served was the 2 hours he was in custody. Nothing more.
The police do not have time to keep arresting the same violent criminals multiple times per year.
POLICE PATROLS ARE NEEDED UP AND DOWN THE UWS! HIGHEST RENTS AND TAXES ANYWHERE, AND THE OUTBOUND EXODUS FROM THIS TREACHEROUS HELLHOLE HAS BEEN IN FULL SWING FOR YEARS NOW.
We all seem to have such short memories. For years, YEARS, McDonald’s routinely had security guards on payroll. It’s only since their last re-furbishing at the 71st Street & B’Way store that either the corporate group that runs this outlet or the individual franchise owner decided to go cheap and get rid of the guards. I’m not naive enough to suggest that a guard or two is sufficient against all the gun-toting, knife-toting types (that so many of you don’t want profiled to get the guns, knives and cutting devices, that they carry with impunity, OFF THE STREETS) but, interestingly, none of these types of crimes were occurring with such regularity. Just being on the scene the guards were NOT afraid to engaged with customers; they always moved high-school kids up and out who were using it as a hang-out (and not ordering anything from McDonald’s) before moving on to the 72nd Street train station,. I’ve seen and reported another nasty trend: young gents walking down 71st Street from Broadway headed west to Riverside Blvd, in the street, testing car doors on the driver’s side to see if they’re open! Nobody stops them, they’re quick and they’d be inside the car for a snatch and grab (given their age, they probably are not experienced car thieves but who knows?). I’d be surprised if the same thing isn’t occurring between Columbus and Broadway, and Central Park West and Columbus elsewhere in the 70s and 60s. Somehow it goes unnoticed and “un-policed.” So, word to the wise: Make sure you check your car doors and ensure that all doors are locked. And don’t forget your trunk!
YES..We have become more and more vulnerable here on the UWS..Entrance to car by an open door gives access to the trunk..But who is care-less enough to walk away and leave there car door open.?.
As for physical attacks?..NO POLICE? Maybe its time to get Curtis Slewah and his people in their red hats patrolling the streets to protect us again..Like the old days

Where are our upper west side representatives?? They are hiding in their basements and ignoring the demise of our beautiful neighborhood. Every time I have brought up the subject of crime and quality of life in our neighborhood to Ms Brewer and Ms Rosenthal and I told that it is simply my perception!!
Perhaps its time to we band together and deluge Brewers and (Rosenthal )? mail and offices with the FACTS and change their incorrect perceptions.. before someone is more seriously injured in a DEADLY ATTACK..
AGREED!
Someone or all of us WRITE to the mayor s office!!
THIS MAYOR?…
That McDonald’s is on 71st and Amsterdam.
Utterly not a Broadway address.
So what?
Check your facts.
Address as utterly provided McDonald’s on-line.
Go argue with them.
