While an Upper West Sider and her husband were waiting for their food at Mamoun’s Falafel (between 84th and 85th Streets on Columbus Ave) on Sunday night, a dog-owner hovering around the eatery’s outdoor dining area launched into a tirade against them for not wearing masks.
The reader tells us that the scene began when she started yelling at employees about customers being unmasked, and that once she started filming, the lady tried to hit her. She also tells us that her dog jumped on top of her.
“She made up a story that my husband and I were not vaccinated (which was false, we are fully vaccinated and never spoke a word to this lady) and she waited outside the restaurant we were at to scream that she hopes we die of COVID,” the reader told us. “I started filming her mainly because I was confused and wanted to document it.”
We’ve reached out to Mamoun’s for more information and will update this post if and when they get back to us.

With so many people packed together it just takes one nut to ruin it for everyone else.
Hmmmmmm……………….a Mamoun’s West Village sandwich with the babagonoush and the pickles sounds good right now. I’d even tolerate the crazy lady.
I live right by there and see that woman around all the time. She’s…not well, it must be said.
This story is kind of unclear. I do see a lot of people come in to place or pick up orders in various establishments who don’t think they need to put their mask on because “it’s just a minute or two” and this might be what she was responding to. Employees are reluctant to say anything because they don’t want to lose potential business. Another question is in places like cafes and other self-service kind of establishments, if someone picks up their food and drink from the counter and sits down to consume it there inside, is anyone even asking them for proof of vax? And now that we are opening to vaccinated foreign visitors in November, how will restaurants and such check their documents which are likely to be in languages or formats they don’t recognize? It all seems kind of vague and haphazard right now.
So you need a mask to walk in but NOT at the table the entire time one is eating/drinking but you need a mask to walk to the bathroom and back?? We’ve also been told by the CDC that the new Delta variant can be transmitted even with the vaccine. Get a booster/no booster needed, every day it’s something new. So tell me, WTF is the point of any of it???????? I’ve been fully vaxxed since April but ONLY to have a life and to be able to go anywhere/do anything. I’ve NEVER worn a mask on a NYC street and never will.
It’s LONG past time for people to stop being such sheeple and start asking themselves some difficult questions about all the incongruities with this vaccine.

This is weird to publish because your not sure of the backstory. This poor woman could have been shouted at first. It was kind of wrong just to publish a video of a woman without knowing the full story
I think the new normal should be this: Keep a mask (or two, in case the first one’s elastic breaks or it falls off) on as you shop in stores, ride buses and subways and enter libraries, banks, delis, shops, et al. Once you sit down to eat, obviously, the mask comes off even as servers continue to wear theirs. Walking on the sidewalk — that’s where things get haphazard. Because of a beard, the mask tends to retain moisture
around my mouth and, as a March 2019 mitral valve repair/open heart surgery
patient, feelings of not getting enough air through the moisture build-up may be more than just a psychosomatic reaction. Therefore, except for all the cases mentioned above, I keep my mask in my shirt pocket and do not wear it walking to and from the subway or bus. From what I’ve observed even with the delta, lambda and mu variants’ warning, most pedestrians do the same; about a third wear their mask all the time and I applaud their conscientiousness. If I didn’t feel shortness of breath wearing mine, I would always don my mask walking to and from my destination.
Wait, the woman filming being yelled at for being maskless in a crowd and blocking the sidewalk is then demanding the dog walker put hers back on. Who’s the real Karen?
Typical liberal Westsider thinking they know it all and can order people to do as they’re told.
F the fascist mask and vax holes.
PTSD; and I think it’s affecting all of us in different ways.
If the backstory is unclear, why publish this video? How is this worthy of attention?
The people filming should have had their masks on – it’s common courtesy.
The woman yelling should have just moved along – you can’t yell at everyone who is being disrespectful to public health.
It’s been a long 18 months. People are rightfully concerned and many have PTSD. Can we not just have a bit of grace for folks?
I live near there too and get very upset at sidewalk tables and people sitting and not eating yet but NOT wearing masks either…That lady as aggravated as she was, WAS RIGHT!…. You can be vaccinated and not death concerned but you can still have it and be a spreader of covid to others,,, that’s why masks SHOULD BE WORN until we rid ourselves of covid (if possible) .
I feel bad for that woman, she just lost it knowing everyone is still in jeopardy of getting and circulation that virus, including herself. As crazy as she seems by losing her temper, SHE WAS 100% CORRECT!
Actually, she was maybe 2% correct. The other 98% was a combination of misplaced rage and bat doo-doo crazy. And the 2% is a gift; wearing masks outside is like wearing a life vest in the shower.
Just a nut.
